Vitrimers, a new class of dynamic polymer materials
Adaptable covalent networks, or vitrimers, combine high mechanical strength, insolubility and the ability to be reshaped after breakage.
These properties are made possible by the composition of their chemical networks, in particular by the presence of heat-exchangeable bonds. To reduce the temperature at which these materials can be reshaped, fluorine atoms with specific electronic properties have been placed close to these exchangeable bonds.
This research was funded in whole or in part by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) under the ANR AFCAN - AAPG2019 project. This report was produced and funded as part of the call for projects "Sciences Avec et Pour la Société - Culture Scientifique Technique et Industrielle" for JCJC and PRC projects under the 2018/2019 generic calls for projects (SAPS-CSTI-JCJC and PRC AAPG 18/19).
