Le radar ASTRAIA a été construit par le CRPE et le NCAR au terme d'un accord de coopération entre l'UCAR, le CNRS et le CNET. C'est un radar météorologique bi-faisceaux Doppler opérant en bande X, aéroporté sur l'avion Electra du NCAR. La photo montre le rotodome (défini par le CRPE, financé par le CNRS et le CNET, construit par le LCTAR) implanté dans la queue de l'avion Electra du NCAR.
