Illustration de l'évolution du profil de falaises côtières. Au premier plan la falaise est active, caractérisée par des éboulis de pied. Au second plan, le pied de la falaise est moins actif : il est végétalisé. A l'arrière-plan, la falaise a été protégée de l'érosion par des cordons littoraux : elle a acquis un profil diffusif. La lithologie, de pendage horizontal, ne change pas entre le premier et l'arrière plan. Puerto Santa Cruz, Patagonie, Argentine.
