Claude Lorius, an outstanding scientist, glaciologist, precursor in the fight against global warming and tireless explorer of the coldest regions of our planet, has just left us.

Winner of the CNRS gold medal in 2002 with Jean Jouzel and member of the Academy of Sciences, Claude Lorius created the Laboratory of glaciology and environmental geophysics in Grenoble. Discover his exemplary career through our photo and video archives.

On the occasion of the 2008 International Polar Year, the CNRS and the IPEV produced a series of podcasts dealing with polar researches.
