Having developed out of a desire bring together multiple disciplines to study interaction between humans and the environment, the Zones Ateliers have proliferated in the last 20 years and are now spread across the whole of France, but also abroad, in the Antarctic and Sub-Saharan Africa. Sited near structural features, whether natural (rivers, parks, etc.) or anthropic (cities, agricultural land, etc.), they enable scientists from very diverse backgrounds to conduct fundamental and applied research on the environment.

This research is often very long-term and is aimed as much at developing new agricultural models as at limiting the impact of climate change, or measuring the effects of human activity on river areas. Immerse yourself through images in the world of these unique laboratories.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
