Photo report
Excavation site in the Autun basin by the Paleontology Research Centre, Paris (CR2P)
The basin of Autun was one of the lakes of the Hercynian chain which crossed the Pangea from east to west, 300 to 250 million years ago.
It is an open window on the biodiversity of that time when Muse was a large lake, surrounded by a lush forest in a tropical or even equatorial climate.
CNRS Images,
Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
