Manufacture of a Papersorb membrane at the Centre de Recherche sur la Conservation laboratory
The Papersorb project aims to produce highly effective adsorbent papers capable of purifying the air by selectively trapping harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
These pollutants are released by furniture, storage materials, maintenance products or the heritage objects themselves. As they accumulate, they can cause irreversible damage to museum objects, archive documents or books. The MOF paper prepared here ensures the long-term conservation of heritage objects, but the technology has other applications.
CNRS Images,
Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
