Phoque barbu paressant sur un iceberg tabulaire dans le nord-ouest du Spitzberg, Norvège. Dans certains secteurs de l'Arctique, la rétraction des glaces de mer sur lesquelles les phoques élèvent leurs jeunes entraîne la raréfaction de ces mammifères marins et de leur principal prédateur, l'ours blanc.
