Couches d'âge permien inférieur (vers 250 millions d'années) plissées en synclinal (premier plan) recouvertes par des terrains quaternaires horizontaux. Ce plissement est une conséquence à grande distance de la collision de l'Inde avec l'Asie qui se produit à plus de mille kilomètres plus au sud de cet affleurement. Turfan, Province du Xinjiang, Chine.
