Recherche d'antimatière dans l'espace. Placé au bas du spectromètre AMS (Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer), le détecteur Cherenkov à aérogel à seuil (Aerogel Threshold Cherenkov - ATC) a permis, durant le vol à bord de la navette Discovery, de séparer les antiprotons des électrons jusqu'à 3,5 GeV/c.
