SIMaP is a fundamental research laboratory specializing in the study and understanding of materials properties, from development to application and ageing. Its teams work on materials, processes, structural characterization and modeling/simulation. These developments cover a wide range of fields, mainly energy, transport and metallurgy.

The company's ROSI (Return of Silicon) technologies make it possible to recycle and revalue the components of old photovoltaic panels, including metals and pure silicon, and to limit the loss of production materials.

The start-up Cilkoa's technology makes it possible to produce paper and cardboard packaging that is as waterproof, moistureproof and oxygen-tight as plastic packaging, while being recyclable and compostable.

As part of its thematic year "Mechanics of the Future", the CNRS Institute of Engineering Sciences and Systems (INSIS) has launched a photo contest on mechanics on October 1, 2021.
