The town of Saint-Marcel (department of the Indre), called Argentomagus in Roman times, has undertaken the restoration of its Gallo-Roman theatre. Argentomagus, which was one of the secondary conurbations of Bourges in the former province of Aquitaine, is unusual in that it possessed (successively) two separate theatre buildings as well as an amphitheatre intended for other kinds of spectacle (hunts, dressage, gladiatorial combat, etc.).
