A portrait of Jacques Dournes, a missionary who became a meticulous ethnographer, and who lived for 25 years in the high plateau regions of Vietnam. Jacques Dournes produced an immense volume - some 250 titles - of theological writing and specialized ethnological work on Southeast Asia and oral-tradition societies. On his return from Vietnam in 1970, he joined CNRS, and at the end of the 1980s he retired to the Gard, at the foot of the Cevennes. He recalls his life among the Sre and Jorai…
