Irène Joliot-Curie Prizes for 2004 (The)
The Irène Joliot-Curie Prize rewards initiatives that increase the numbers of girls studying scientific and technical subjects and improve the position of women in the sciences. Three prizes were awarded on November 18, 2004:
Anne-Marie Jolly, assistant director of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles (ENSAIT) and member of the organization of women engineers, in the "incentive" category.
The SIEFAR (Société Internationale pour l'Etude des Femmes de l'Ancien Régime) represented by its president, Eliane Viennot, in the "support" category.
Marie-Françoise Roy, director of the Institut de recherche mathématique in Rennes, a specialist in real algebraic geometry, in the "recognition" category.
