Between 1933 and 1945, various initiatives to support scientists in exile were set up in France, notably with the creation of the Comité des Savants. Louis Rapkine, a biochemist at the Institut de biologie physico-chimique (IBPC), was the real linchpin of the rescue of these scientists forced to flee their country.
