Slice of adult mouse olfactory bulb, in which s neurons are observed. These are marked in green due to a lentiviral vector coding for GFP (Green Fluorescent Protein). In red is a principal cell (mitral cell) of the main bulb. This red marking was obtained following electrophysiological recording and diffusion of a tracer in the cell cytoplasm. The image was obtained by confocal microscopy on a slice of brain following an immunohistochemical reaction (a method of locating proteins in cells).

Slice of adult mouse olfactory bulb, in which so-called newborn neurons are observed. They have just been born, yet in an adult brain. These neurons appear on the image in white due to a lentiviral vector coding for GFP (Green Fluorescent Protein). The image was obtained by confocal microscopy, on a slice of brain, following an immunohistochemical reaction (a method of locating proteins in cells).
