Images made by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electronic microscopy (TEM) showing stages in the formation of the amyloid fibres encountered in Alzheimer’s disease. From small protein fragments, fibrils build and lengthen to produce the fibres (visible in the image) that are found in the tangled senile plaques detected in Alzheimer’s patients.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
