Goutte d'eau millimétrique sur un substrat texturé hydrophobe : la goutte garde la forme d'une perle (on dit du matériau qu'il est super-hydrophobe). La texture est un réseau de plots régulièrement organisés à l'échelle du micromètre, ce qui confère au matériau ses couleurs. Cette propriété super-hydrophobe est appelée l'effet lotus. (Réf.
