Simha Arom is the manager of the ethnographical department of the CNRS. He has been particularly interested in complex polyphonic music from the Central African Republic. With André Marie Despringues and Vincent Dehoux, he explains how he managed to break down the pigmy polyphonies, by using a method of sound recording which he invented and developed and that calls for replaying. He uses it together with photographs and films.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
