A cache of Roman weapons was discovered during the dredging of the river Doubs, in Pontoux, a strategic place on the river in Roman times because a wooden bridge crossed the river at that point. This cache included cavalry swords, balista arrows, a legionary's dagger and its scabbard chased with enamel and silver, and two mail coats, one of them completely intact. A very detailed study of this coat is performed.
