Le CNRS est engagé depuis 2013 comme partenaire scientifique du Ballon de Paris en accompagnant le dispositif tant du point de vue des enjeux scientifiques que des instruments qui l'équipent. Au-delà de sa dimension touristique, le Ballon captif Generali de Paris est équipé d'instruments lui permettant d'être une vigie du changement climatique et des polluants de l'atmosphère.
