Serge Cantat, lauréat de la médaille d’argent du CNRS 2025, est mathématicien et directeur de recherche à l’Institut de recherche mathématiques de Rennes (IRMAR). Il est récompensé pour ses contributions novatrices à la dynamique des transformations polynomiales. Figure majeure du domaine au niveau mondial, il s’intéresse plus précisément aux actions des groupes de transformations birationnelles des variétés projectives et à la dynamique de ces groupes.
