Fluorescent immunostaining in human dermal fibroblasts cultivated 8 days after confluence

Fluorescent immunostaining of tropoelastin (green) and counterstaining of the nuclei by DAPI (blue) in human dermal fibroblasts cultivated 8 days after confluence. Confluence determines the moment when the cells touch. Tropoelastin, which confers elasticity to mature elastic fibres, is secreted by the cells and deposited in a fibrillar network in the extracellular space. This observation was performed by fluorescence optical microscopy. The scale bar corresponds to 100 µm.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
