Chambre à sédimentation avec un échantillon de plancton observée au microscope inversé
Chambre à sédimentation observée au microscope inversé. Elle contient un "sous-échantillon" d'eau de mer et de plancton, prélevé au large de Villefranche-sur-Mer, fixé au Lugol (solution d'iode). Les objectifs du microscope inversé permettent d'observer l'échantillon par le bas plutôt que par le haut et il est possible d'identifier et dénombrer les plus petits organismes planctoniques (1/100 mm et plus).
