Cristaux de saphir
Cristal de saphir et cristaux dopés à base de saphir, obtenus par croissance cristalline dans un four Czochralski. Le saphir est très transparent et mécaniquement très résistant. Lorsqu'il est dopé, c'est-à-dire associé à d'autres matériaux en très petite quantité, on peut en faire des lasers.
