Ce micro-oeil est doté d'un réflexe de fixation visuelle lui permettant de verrouiller son regard sur une cible placée dans son champ visuel. Il est complété par un réflexe inertiel de type vestibulo-oculaire, qui agit sur l'orientation de l'oeil de manière à compenser toute rotation intempestive de la tête. Il est appliqué au contrôle visuel de micro-aéronefs.
