Isabelle Cantat's work focuses on small-scale free-surface hydrodynamic flows in the presence of surfactants (in other words, drops, bubbles, soap films) and, on a larger scale, liquid foams.

Elast-D3 is a joint laboratory between the University of Rennes 1, the CNRS and Continental. The objective of the research conducted there is to study the development, durability and dynamic properties of elastomers, in order to decarbonize our mobility.

Teacher-researcher at the Rennes Institute of Physics, he specialises in the study of the ultra-fast transformation of materials and molecules by light. This expertise, which is almost unique in the world, earned him the CNRS silver medal in 2020.
